A kortomi is a mechanical miyoa constructed by miyoan hands, but lives, acts, and looks like a normal miyoa. They are incredibly rare and enigmatic- few have ever seen one. On the surface, they look like normal miyoa, even having flesh and some blood when cut, but inside, they're all metal and wires as opposed to tissue and nerves. Because of this, they can live essentially forever, and do not require food, although they're constructed to be able to convert food to electrical energy, much like organic beings. It is unknown what kortomi prefer to do while active as part of their natural instincts, but seeing as they were built to be no different from organic miyoa, it can be assumed they are no different from us there, either.

Kortomi have no differences in abilities from organic miyoa. They can utilize magic just as effectively as us, get fatigued if overexerting themselves with it, and have similar physical limits as us. Essentially, they are just like organic miyoa, only with a metal framework. The laws of the planet similarly make no distinction between the two outside of identitification purposes, such as when medical attention might be required. Though, to say there's global acceptance of them would be a lie... Due to being machines running on electricity, they're incredibly weak to lightning-based magic, though according to design documents, they have internal resistances around their brains and memory storage to prevent data from being lost in the event the rest of their bodies get short-circuited, allowing them to be repaired even from a strike that would prove fatal to an organic being.

What separates kortomi from simple robots is the fact that they have souls. This is what makes them so rare- while their design documents still exist and are readily available and can be understood, very few miyoa have the ability to mess with souls in the way these beings require, and even when they do, 99% of the souls accessible to normal miyoa are active souls, meaning they already have an identity, knowledge, and memories. Essentially, people who have died but clung to life and refused to move on. Putting a soul like this into a mechanical body will merely revive that dead miyoa, not bring a new life into the world. In fact, if you do this without caution, you could end up bringing back a mass-murderer or something... Although, there IS a location on the planet with many inactive souls flying about, which may allow for the creation of true kortomi, but due to a lack of understanding and general lack of ability or knowledge, it has never been tested.

One drawback to kortomi is that while their design documents are easily found, they are not easily understood, so when they are in need of repairs, it is difficult for them to find someone that can offer them the service they need. Thus, they tend to gravitate towards the people they know can repair them, so they know help is always nearby. However, sometimes the areas needing repairs are in the core of their system in a highly cramped area, making repairs difficult. At times like this, the only easy way to complete the repairs is for one of the two to change size- either the kortomi enlarges, or the repairer shrinks- then the repairer enters the kortomi's body to complete repairs from within. There are a few access hatches to enter a kortomi's core, such as on their backs, feet, or hands, but unfortunately, they're either very difficult to get to, such as the back, or are too far from the core to be worth using, such as the extremities. Due to this, it's assumed kortomi were designed to be repaired with tiny flying drones, but no evidence of this has turned up.
